After a breathtaking opening performance by U2, show host Kylie Minogue performed Can't Get You Out Of My Head with backing dancers (and co-hosts) James Corden and Mathew Horne. The Gavin and Stacey actors donned skimpy red outfits and black PVC over-the-knee boots to strut their stuff behind the Aussie songstress.

The show was broadcast on stv live from London's Earl's Court.

The star of this year's show was definitely Welsh singer Duffy. This time last year, most people hadn't even heard of her.
Kylie Minogue performed at the BRITs with her new backing dancers - Mat Horne and James Corden.

Duffy walked away with the gongs for Best British Female Solo Artist, Best Album for Rockferry, and British Breakthrough Act. Her first award of the night was presented to her by actor Simon Pegg.

Duffy was the second biggest selling act in the world last year. On accepting her first award for Best British Female, she said that it was an honour to be at the BRITs and expressed relief that her mum didn't have a boy, otherwise she wouldn't have been eligible in that category.

The 24-year-old singer who hails from Bangor in Wales described getting the first of her three awards as, "a treat."

Other winners at the ceremony included the Pet Shop Boys, Kings of Leon and Katy Perry.

British band Coldplay, who were tipped to win several awards and performed at the show, left empty handed.
