More than 30 people braved the rain on Friday morning, to show their support at Glasgow Sheriff
Court, for one of the three people arrested during the resistance to the immigration raid on Kenmure
Street in Glasgow last year.
Like thousands of others, the Kenmure Street 3 were allegedly resisting the detention of two men
who have settled in Scotland and made it their home. Just these three are now facing a distressing
court process when it looked as though hundreds acted in a way that could have led to their arrest
that day.
As one protestor stated “The police want you to believe that they were somehow there to facilitate
peaceful protest last May. My view, having been there, is very clearly that they were not. They were
there to enable the kidnapping of two men by the racist Home Office. I feel that Police Scotland and
Home Office were angry and embarrassed that we successfully stood in solidarity with our friends
and neighbours and want to make a face-saving example of these three people.”
Today’s case was adjourned until a date in December. Two other defendants will appear on the 17th &
18th October. Their defence team are still wishing to speak to witnesses and anyone who has footage
of the arrests. They can be contacted at kenmurestreet3@gmail.com .
