In recent decades, student loans through PTPTN have become the primary way to finance one’s higher education. However, the amount required to fund these loans has ballooned, as every year the number of borrowers increases and loan amounts grow bigger. It has also meant that many young Malaysians are saddled with a five-figure debt burden even before entering the workforce. So is student-loan debt a crisis waiting to happen in Malaysia?
