The Tobacco and Smoking Control Bill was not put to a vote after it was debated in Dewan Rakyat today, as was widely expected. The bill, which includes a section dubbed as the ‘Generational Endgame’ to ban anyone born after 2007 from smoking, was instead referred to a Parliamentary Special Select Committee for further deliberation. How best to temper its contentious clauses? Melisa Idris speaks to Bandar Kuching MP, Dr Kelvin Yii, Chairman of the Parliamentary Special Select Committee on Health, Science and Innovation.
