Archaeologists find world’s oldest successful amputation

A team of Aussie and Indonesian archaeologists have unearthed a young, stone age hunter-gatherer whose lower left leg had been amputated by a health practitioner. The find pre-dates other such discoveries by tens of thousands of years. Dr Tim Maloney oversaw the archaeological excavation in Borneo he says this discovery has rewritten our understanding of historical medical practices.
