Vegan activists caused a third day of misery for drivers and businesses by supergluing themselves to the top of EMPTY lorries outside a Muller dairy. Around 40 Animal Rebellion eco-warriors clambered on top of HGVs as part of a blockade of the milk factory’s depot in Droitwich, Worcs. Campaigners leapt onto the lorries and slashed their tyres at around 4am causing chaos for motorists trying to access the large industrial estate. Animal Rebellion is carrying our blockades of four dairies across the UK as part of its campaign for a plant-based food system. The group began their protest in Droitwich at 5am on Sunday (4/9) morning which has seen 32 people arrested so far on suspicion of aggravated trespassing. The majority of those arrested remain in police custody while seven have been released on bail. Assistant Chief Constable of West Mercia Police Richard Cooper said: “We respect the right to peaceful protest but we will take proportionate action when the law is broken. “Those who commit crimes while protesting will be dealt with fairly but robustly by West Mercia Police.” The protest has caused chaos for more than 40 businesses which operate out of the industrial park on Pointon Way. Workers say the majority of the lorries which were occupied were empty of any food products. Lorry driver Manny Singh said: "I’ve been here since 7am, it’s just awful.” Tom Price, who works for AKW Medicare near the Muller plant, said: “It’s not going to change the world, I've had to come to work, I was late, I was late to earn money.” Some of the protesters superglued themselves to the top of an Amazon Prime delivery truck. Others chained themselves to the top of the lorry which police had to cut. Protesters appear to have slashed the tyres of several lorries from Muller. Lorry drivers have started to offer free food if the protesters come down One yelled: "I'll take you for a free course meal, if you come down."
