Over 1,000 dead and 33 MILLION displaced due to Pakistan flash floods: terrifying torrents of water filmed sweeping through village after monsoon.

Officials say this year's monsoon floods have affected more than 33 million people, one in seven Pakistanis, destroying or severely damaging nearly a million homes.

The country's climate minister has called the deadly monsoon season a "serious weather catastrophe", while army chiefs have called the disaster "unprecedented".

Incredible video showed the unstoppable stream of flood water sweeping away entire villages, and a daring army helicopter rescue to save stranded people moments before they were swept away.

"I have not seen destruction on this scale, it is very difficult for me to put into words ... it is overwhelming," Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari told Reuters in an interview.

Flash floods from heavy rains washed away villages and crops as soldiers and rescuers evacuated stranded residents to the safety of relief camps and provided food to thousands of displaced Pakistanis.

Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority reported that the death toll has now reached 1,033 people after new fatalities were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and South Sindh provinces.

The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the UN disaster agency, said 184,000 people had been confirmed displaced, a figure expected to rise in coming days.

In one captured video, floodwaters uprooted trees and swept away entire homes as the monsoon destroyed entire communities.

Pakistani military chiefs released a video on Sunday pleading with countries to offer their support, asking for financial aid after the army was deployed to rescue survivors.
