Flames encroach on homes as fires force evacuations in Serra da Estrela

Fires in Serra da Estrela flared up on Monday, 15 August, in the area of Vale da Amoreira (Amoreira Valley), in the municipality of Manteigas (Guarda). A village and the campsite of Valhelhas, in the municipality of Guarda, had to be evacuated.
