As Canberra continues to face a housing affordability and rental shortage crisis, proposed new laws could see Canberrans given more security when leasing a home.

And while tenants can take some relief from the draft legislation, there are concerns it could leave landlords worse-off. The legislation would see the removal of 'no cause evictions' meaning landlords would be unable to end a tenancy without reason.
