Pontian MP Ahmad Maslan told the Dewan Rakyat today that Malaysia ranked 18th in the 2022 Global Peace Index report prepared by the Institute for Economics and Peace because of the existence of the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 or Sosma.
Opposition lawmaker Khalid Samad then questioned Ahmad if other counties ahead of Malaysia in the index also had something similar to Sosma in their respective countries.
