The construction watchdog's powers will be immediately stripped back to its bare minimum in a federal government move to dump what it describes as "ridiculous" rules. Workplace Relations Minister Tony Burke says the Australian Building and Construction Commission has been wasting taxpayers money and will be wound down from tuesday.
