Malaria has been one of India's long-standing public health issues. The vector-borne disease threatens a population of about 1.26 billion and is responsible for an economic burden of approximately ₹ 14.6 crores. According to WHO’s World malaria report 2021, there were an estimated 241 million malaria cases and 627 000 malaria deaths worldwide in 2020. Pratik Kumar, Country Director, Malaria No More India, during his conversation with Financial Express.com, talked about the current status of Malaria in India, the challenges, the role of the private sector, and immediate steps that India needs to take to eliminate Malaria.
