Mumbai Emperor is on many a South Shields restaurant bucket list, and with good reason. Opened in 2019 by Syed Khalid Miah who has run restaurants in Sunderland for 47 years, and had long wanted to open one in South Shields. He did just that and transformed the well known Stanhope Hotel building into an upmarket restaurant now managed by his son Foz Ahmed.
