Finland and Sweden will apply for NATO membership. This comes as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, reported BBC. Finland has formally announced that it would apply to join NATO. Soon after Finland’s announcement, Sweden too said they backed joining NATO, reported BBC. Pekka Haavisto, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland said, “By joining NATO, Finland will strengthen its own security and that of all of Europe.” Meanwhile, Mircea Geoana, Deputy Secretary General of NATO tweeted, “We discussed possible membership application of Finland & Sweden.” Watch the video to know more.
