Vote counting is underway in Lebanon where people went to the polling stations to choose a new parliament. Results are expected Monday. The Interior Ministry put the turnout at just over 40 percent. Nearly four million people were eligible to vote. 128 seats are up for grabs. Over seven hundred candidates competed to enter parliament. The elections come amid an unprecedented economic crisis that began on 20-19. The crisis has led to a currency collapse and plunged over 70 percent of the population into poverty. The Hezbollah resistance movement blames the crisis on a US-led conspiracy against Lebanon. The next parliament is due to vote on key reforms required by the International Monetary Fund to unlock financial support.
