LeVar Burton To Receive , Lifetime Achievement Award, at Children’s Emmys.
NPR reports LeVar Burton will be honored at
the inaugural Children's and Family Emmys.
The beloved former host of
'Reading Rainbow' will receive
the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Burton reacted to the news via Twitter.
Burton became the executive producer
and host of 'Reading Rainbow' in 1983.
The show aired for 23 years on PBS. .
It won 12 Daytime Emmys
and one Peabody Award.
With an acting career spanning decades,
Burton is also well known for his roles as
Kunta Kinte in the 1977 miniseries 'Roots'...
... and Geordi La Forge in the
'Star Trek: The Next Generation' television series.
Per NPR, Burton will also be the host of the 2022 Scripps National Spelling Bee
