Bert Firman's Dance Orchestra - Rhapsody in Blue

2009-02-05 6

Here is a fantastic British dance band version of this famous classical work. British bandleader Firman started playing the violin in an ensemble at the age of 13 and already had his own orchestra when 16 years old! He successfully led many different bands till the 1940's, when he retired from music stages. This recording, displaying a refined orchestration, was made in 1928. The piano solo is by Carroll Gibbons.
