Kapileswar Temple at Bhubaneshwar in Orissa

The Kapileswar temple is situated at 4 km from Binka and 35 km from Sonepur.The temple was built by King Anangabhima II (1211-1238 AD). The Kapileswar temple seems to be built after the Koseleswar temple of Baidyanath from architectural style. It is one of the saivite shrine of Sonepur.

Spread over nearly 15 acres, the shrine has nearly 20 small and big temples on its premises, with a deep well and a huge pond. Septuagenarian Mallia said, "The temple has a lot of land and Lord Kapilnath is believed to be the minister of Lord Lingaraj. Kapileswar temple, which is the temple of lord Shiv,it is also one of the most ancient and best temples of Odisha State. Here all the priests are known as the Mallias.
