Expectant mums in south-west Victoria are desperately reassessing their birth plans, after a hospital suddenly shut its birthing suites for three months.

The Portland Hospital in Victoria is struggling to attract enough midwives to keep its maternity suite open, forcing women to travel more than an hour to a replacement hospital to give birth.
