Last Friday, the Ministry of Higher Education made a recommendation, urging public universities to hold their registration and lessons for the new semester virtually, amid a resurgence of Covid-19 cases. Many students were already on their way to campus, or had made travel arrangements, when the announcement came. Many Malaysians were quick to act to help stranded university students. Melisa Idris and Sharaad Kuttan speak to former Education Minister Maszlee Malik, who helped raise more than RM150,000 in less than 24 hours after launching the #SisawaJagaSiswa fund.
