Six young people have been taken into custody after a 53-year-old man following an incident outside a supermarket in Redditch, it was reported late on Tuesday night.

West Mercia Police reported that around 7.20pm yesterday (Tuesday) officers received a report of a man having been injured outside an Asda store on Jinnah Road.

It said officers and West Midlands Ambulance Service attended and, despite their best efforts, the man from Redditch, to the south of Birmingham, . The force said that officers are currently supporting the man’s family "at this difficult time".

It added: "Following a search of the area, six young men have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody. Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.
