Handicrafts exhibition
As part of the National Handicrafts Week,a week long handicrafts exhibition-cum-sale - Handicrafts Heritage Kerala - was held from December 8-15 in Thiruvananthapuram. The State on this occasion organised a week-long handicrafts exhibition-cum -sale - "Handicrafts Heritage - Kerala" from December 8 - 15.
Venued at Kanakakkunnu Palace, situated at the centre of the capital city, Thiruvananthapuram, the exhibition provided an opportunity for the public to see the artists at work. So many curios, wooden sculptures, jewel boxes.... almost all the items in true ethnic styles. The impact of Steven Spielberg's movie 'Jurassic Park' was evident in the exhibition where Dinosaurs made of wood and similar figures were seen in plenty. Household utensils, the famous Aranmula Kannadi (Aranmula Mirror), sculptures made of animal horns and so on were among the other exhibits. The craftsmen represented 70 institutions from all over the State.
