A student at St Michael's Girls' Home in Thanjavur tried to kill herself by consuming poison alleging that she was forced to clean rooms in her hostel by the warden and forced to take up Christianity. Lavanya, 17, was admitted to a hospital after she tried to kill herself. She died on Wednesday after not responding to treatment.
