Evening prayers on the occasion of celestial wedding ceremony of Lord Venakteswara at Venkateshwara College in Delhi.
The revered holy idols of Lord Venakteswara and his consorts Laxmi and Padmavati are travelling all the way from Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh to Sri Venkateswara College here in Delhi where “Kalyana Mahotsavam” (celestial wedding) of idols will be performed in grand style this coming Sunday.
A replica
To give the devotees a feel of the Lord Venakteswara temple at Tirupati, a replica of the temple is being erected on the grounds of Sri Venkateswara College in Dhaula Kuan. Since the idols are made of five metals and embedded with precious stones, there will be fool-proof police and fire protection.
Lord Venkateswara is renowned as the most benevolent boon giver. The temple of Balaji has acquired sanctity in Indian religious lore. Traditionally lakhs of devotees travel to Tirupati to worship him and seek his blessings. But this time Lord Balaji is coming to Delhi to bless his devotees.
