On December 22, Maharashtra reported the highest single-day spike in Covid-19 cases in 48 days. The state recorded 1,201 new Covid-19 cases. Eight new Covid-19 related deaths were reported in the state. Meanwhile, Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, reported 490 new Covid-19 cases. So far, 65 cases with the Omicron variant have been detected in the state. Out of these, 35 have been discharged following a negative RT PCR test result. Overall cases in Mumbai jumped to 7,68,148 and the number of deaths stands at 16,366. Mumbai has 2,419 active Covid-19 cases. Watch the video to know more.
