Watch this U.K dad get his body tattooed with original artwork drawn by the KIDS in his family.
James Dickinson is a 37 year-old tattoo artist and family man from Newcastle in the UK and wanted to show his love and appreciation for the kids in his family by getting a tattoo done in their honour.
Rather than go down the generic route of getting their name’s tattooed James instead decided he wanted the “s**thot” artwork the talented tikes had created immortalised on his body.
James armed himself with original artwork of Airel from The Little Mermaid by niece Evelyn,7 The Incredible Hulk by Nephew Oliver, 5 and Lord Voldermort of Harry Potter fame by his own son Ashlan, 7 and headed to Northside Tattooz in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Artist Kara Chambers, 30 leapt at the chance to work on the tattoo and traced the artwork verbatim for James before adding her own artistic flair into the background to tie them all together into one fantastic tattoo.
James sat the long session like a rock despite the painful positioning of tattoo having to involve the knee.
Hours later the work was done and now the proud parent has a permanent reminder of the budding talent of those who mean the most to him.
Video footage shot by Kara shows the finished piece.
James who Tattoos at Pins and Needles, Newcastle said:
“There were three children who did the drawings the little mermaid one was done by my niece a few years ago which I’ve been saying all that time I wanted to get tattooed.”
“My nephew did the hulk one and my son did the Voldemort one this year because he wanted to put one of his drawings up in my tattoo booth amongst my drawings for the customers so they could see it."
"It just seemed a better idea than getting names they are s**t hot little drawings they’ve done, and I thought that they'd make for a badass tattoo. "
“I felt really good at the sitting me and Kara are friends and I trusted her completely to put her artistic spin onto the drawings the kids have done she is an insanely talented artist, and I gave a free rein to do what she wanted with the background."
“I couldn’t have got a better person to do it I knew she would smash out the park, but she went way beyond that.”
“People’s reactions are between utter disbelief and can’t believe she translated it that well into a tattoo. She got the colours so bang on and made it look like true kids drawing come to life on my leg.”
“All the kids love it. They don’t fully understand that it’s permanent at their age they just see it as I’ve got a drawing they’ve done on my leg.
“When they’re older they’ll fully grasp it in taking the meaning behind it more I’m sure.”
Kara, 30 from Newbiggan and proud artist at Northside Tattooz added:
“I was absolutely chuffed with the tattoo when it was finished, he sat amazing for the size we ended up going for especially inside the knee area.”
“I was of course tired and hungry and fancied a beer at the end…. but was so privileged he picked me and trusted me so much with something so sentimental, was dying of the pressure inside but have to play it cool.”
