On November 29, WHO said that the overall global risk related to the new Covid-19 variant, is assessed as very high. WHO said that there could be future surges of Covid-19, which could have severe consequences. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General, WHO tweeted, “Omicron’s emergence reminds us of how perilous & precarious our situation is.” WHO emphasised on enhancing surveillance and sequencing efforts to better understand circulating variants, including Omicron. WHO also said that vaccination coverage should be accelerated. Use of masks, physical distancing should be followed.
