Rebranding Rwanda: The designers behind Kigali couture
With high profile endorsements from Hollywood and the country’s president, ‘Made in Rwanda’ is having a moment. Designers Matthew Rugamba, founder House of Tayo and Ysolde Shimwe, co-founder Uzuri K&Y are both optimistic that a new generation of designers, encouraged by a recent change in import taxes, are primed to re-brand Rwanda as Africa’s newest fashion capital.
