The way we treat and diagnose leukaemia could radically change thanks to researchers at the University of Kent.
Scientists say they've discovered that blood cancer cells release a protein which prevents the patients immune system from fighting off the disease.
They say this discovery could lead to a fundamental change to diagnosis and treatment.
