It approved a resolution elevating President Xi Jinping's status in its history. The historical resolution was passed at the end of a four-day, closed-door meeting of 370 top leaders on its Central Committee, state media reported. This puts Jinping on the same stage as Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping. They cemented their position as pre-eminent leaders with the only other two such resolutions passed, in 1945 and 1981 respectively. The party elevated the role of Jinping at the Sixth Plenum, this week's meeting. This comes a year before Xi Jinping is expected to secure a third term as party leader. Watch the video to know more.
