Devasahayam Pillai, First Indian Layman To Be Conferred Sainthood By Vatican In 2022

Devasahayam Pillai will become the first Indian layman to be conferred sainthood. Pillai is a Hindu converted to Christianity in the 18th century. Layman means a non-ordained member of the Church. Pope Francis will canonize Blessed Devasahayam Pillai, together with six other Blesseds. It will be held during a Canonization Mass in St Peter's Basilica in Vatican on May 15, 2022, Church officials said in Thiruvananthapuram on November 10. Watch the video to know more.
