Harindar Baweja’s book 'A Soldier's Diary: Kargil,The inside story’ originally published in 2000 has got people talking about the War again. The book presented as a Soldier's Diary has first hand stories of the Indian troops and After Action Reports.
Madhu praises Harinder on her thorough coverage of the War, “You know, Whichever camp I went to, Everyone, The Officers and the Jawans, Everyone was Talking about Shammi Baweja.”
“For me , The War was about the soldier”, Harinder tells Madhu. “The Book is sourced from a lot of the Army's own files, and it's not what we thought sitting in our drawing rooms in Delhi.”
Harinder shares her experiences during the war and its psychological impact on her after the conflict had ended. “The same question would haunt me, 'What happened in those heights ?’”, she says.
After the war, “I went back, and everything had changed.“, she adds. “In what way ?” Madhu asks.
