In September 2020, after allegations by a few families and #Hindutva groups in #UttarPradesh’s Kanpur that Muslim men had ‘trapped’ their Hindu daughters in love with the intention of converting them to Islam, the Adityanath government set up a special investigation team to inquire 14 cases of ‘#lovejihad’ in the city. The SIT claimed to have found criminality in 11 of these cases.
