Amid intensifying nationwide protests against the #CitizenshipAmendmentAct, Narendra Modi addressed a rally of his supporters in Delhi’s #RamlilaMaidan on December 22.
The prime minister’s speech was widely criticised for trading in falsehoods, in particular regarding the National Register Citizens, which his government is said to be rolling out nationally.
However, many of his supporters whom Newslaundry spoke with after the rally insisted that Modi had said nothing wrong. They had much to say about the media’s coverage of the protests against the citizenship law as well.
