The number of complaints of ragging reported in universities and higher educational institutions have doubled in the last 3 years. According to HRD ministry data, UGC received 423 complaints in 2015, most of which were from West Bengal. The number then rose to 515 in 2016 and 901 in 2017, according to the data.
