On October 20, the Uttar Pradesh government faced flak from the Supreme Court over the killing of farmers at a protest in Lakhimpur Kheri. The UP government was sternly told by the Supreme Court to \"dispel the feeling that you are dragging your feet.” The top court ordered the UP government to protect and record the statement of all witnesses & said \"this should not be an unending story.” The apex court had asked the state government for a status report on who all have been arrested and for what crime. Union Minister of state for home Ajay Mishra's son Ashish Mishra is accused of mowing down farmers during a protest at Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3. Ashish Mishra was arrested on October 11.  Salve said the report had been submitted in a sealed cover on October 19. CJI NV Ramana asked, “How can we read it if it gets filed last minute? At least file it a day before.” SC ordered the state government to protect the witnesses and question more of them. “This should not be an unending story,” Chief Justice of India NV Ramana said. “We feel you are dragging your feet.
