The Home Ministry is ready to replace the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983, which it considers outdated.
Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin said it would be replaced by a new law known as the Drug and Substance Abuse Act (Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act.
He said the ministry and the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) had already prepared a draft of the bill to be tabled in Parliament in the near future.
