Canadian elections 2021 came to a close with incumbent prime minister Justin Trudeau retaining power. Trudeau’s Liberal Party won almost the same number of seats it had in the previous 2019 elections which means that Canada will continue to have a minority government. A party needs 170 seats out 338 to form the majority government but Justin Trudeau and his party managed to win 157 ridings, almost mirroring the mandate he had received in the 2019 elections. His strongest rival, Erin O’Toole from the Conservative Party managed to win in 120 ridings.
