On September 8, the Telangana government declared a holiday on Wednesday & Thursday in Greater Hyderabad in view of incessant rains, tweeted IANS. Heavy downpour in parts of Telangana over the last two days led to the loss of eight lives. Normal life has been paralysed, road transport disrupted & widespread crops have been damaged as 20 districts have been affected. Rains followed by a low pressure in Bay of Bengal caused a flood-like situation in north Telangana. With rivers, lakes, tanks and other water bodies overflowing, residential areas were inundated. Sircilla- Karimnagar, Karimnagar-Jagtial, Nizamabad-Bodhan highways have been under water. The worst affected district due to floods is Rajanna Sircilla. Reportedly, the Sircilla authorities shifted 216 families from the flood-hit areas to relief camps. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Telangana for the next two days. Watch the video to know more.
