The Taliban have said women will enjoy their rights in Afghanistan under Sharia law. Sharia is the legal system of Islam. The Taliban have their own interpretation of Sharia law. Women can go to market and work but they need to be accompanied by a male family member. Women are not allowed to interact with boys over 12 or men who are not family. Taliban has instructed that classes must be segregated by sex or at least divided by a curtain. Women attending private Afghan universities must wear an abaya robe and niqab covering most of the face. Taliban has prohibited the use of makeup including nail polish to wearing high heels by women.
