The purpose of the Reconnaissance Leader Course is to provide the students with the required knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of a Reconnaissance Team Leader.

Students of the Recon Team Leader Course (RTLC), are inserted and conduct reconnaisance patrols, East Range, Schofield Barracks, RTLC is an 8-week advanced joint-service course that takes place in three key geographical regions of operation such as classes at Camp Pendleton, California, desert patrol operations in Yuma, Arizona, and ending with jungle and amphibious exercises across Oahu, Hawaii.

MCBH and the other military installations in Hawaii provide unique training areas and climate that enables the warfighter to obtain the best training possible.

This course emphasizes planning, briefing, and leading teams in patrolling, ground reconnaissance, and amphibious operations.

Upon successful completion of this course, the students are capable of performing the duties of a Reconnaissance Team Leader within a Reconnaissance Battalion.
