The Supreme Court on August 18 ruled that women can sit for the National Defence Academy (NDA) admission exam. The interim order by the top court could allow more women to serve in the country’s armed forces. The exam has been rescheduled for November 14. The apex court slammed a ‘mindset problem’ when it comes to equal service opportunities. SC warned the government "you better change". The Supreme Court expressed hope that this would encourage the Army to initiate the change of its own accord, rather than be forced to do so. Meanwhile, the Central government argued that its recruitment policy was not discriminatory. The government said that there were a number of ways in which women could apply.
