The Taliban said the group would respect the rights of women. They said they would allow a free media within the framework of Islamic law, something which was not possible during their rule 20 years ago. The Taliban said that there will be no retribution against anyone. He said women can work in the health sector and other sectors where they are required. The Taliban spokesperson also said that the group wants all media outlets to continue their activities. “I think we will need to see acts on the ground in terms of promises kept,” Stephane Dujarric, UN spokesperson told reporters in New York. Meanwhile, Amrullah Saleh, First Vice President of Afghanistan said, “I am currently inside my country & am the legitimate caretaker President.
