Reportedly, Taliban captured two of Afghanistan's biggest cities on August 12. The United States and Britain will send troops to help evacuate their embassy staff, reported Reuters. Taliban got control over the country's second and third largest cities, Kandahar & Herat. This represents the Taliban's biggest military victories since they began a broad offensive in May. The Pentagon said it would send around 3,000 extra troops within 48 hours to help evacuate embassy staff, reported Reuters. Britain said it would send about 600 troops to help its nationals return. The fall of both Kandahar and Herat was reported by media including the Associated Press. Earlier on August 12, the Taliban captured Ghazni, situated on the Kandahar-to-Kabul road some 150 km (90 miles) southwest of the capital. Ross Wilson, Chargé d'Affaires To The Islamic Republic Of Afghanistan said, “The Taliban’s statements in Doha do not resemble their actions in Badakhshan, Ghazni, Helmand & Kandahar.” Watch the video to know more.
