The Indian men’s hockey team created history by winning a bronze medal at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics. They defeated Germany 5-4 in the bronze medal game. Soon after they won their first Olympic medal in 41 years, the team had a “surprise caller” from India. Captain Manpreet Singh and the team's coach, Graham Reid, received a call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He congratulated them for their historic win. PM Narendra Modi tweeted, “With this feat, they have captured the imagination of the entire nation, especially our youth.” Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister Of Odisha said, “This historic win will inspire generations of sportspersons.” Shah Rukh Khan tweeted, “Indian Men’s Hockey Team Congratulations. Resilience and skill at its peak.” Akshay Kumar also congratulated the team. Sachin Tendulkar also hailed the team’s performance.
