Twelve people, mostly youngsters, were killed and 11 others injured on Sunday when lightning struck a watchtower around Amer Fort near Jaipur. Around 40 people had gathered at two watchtowers around and were clicking selfies when the lightning struck. Documents accessed by India Today shows that those 12 lives could have been saved if the state government had heard the Archaeological Department’s requests to have lightning conductors installed in the last eight years.
