Based on Jim Proser's book of the same name, this 45 minute documentary film tells the story of Marine Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone, who was lauded by Gen. Douglas MacArthur as "...a one man Army." Basilone received the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions on Guadalcanal but threatened mutiny when he was taken off the front lines to sell war bonds in the safety of the US with Hollywood celebrities.

Instead, he confronted the Commandant of the Marine Corps demanding to be returned to front line duty saying, "I'm staying with my boys. They need me." Sgt. Basilone was returned to lead the attack on the beaches of Iwo Jima saving many of his boys' lives. He was killed in the attack. Today a statue honors Sgt. Basilone in his hometown of Raritan, New Jersey. To see more great stories of real life heroes, go to https://jimproser.com.
