India registers 92,596 fresh Covid-19 cases, over 2,200 deaths in last 24 hours

92,596 fresh Covid-19 cases and 2,219 deaths in the past 24 hours, showing a slight increase in the number of new cases from Monday’s tally. With the fresh spike, India’s Covid case tally has now reached 2,90,89,069.

The top five states which have registered the maximum Covid-19 cases are Tamil Nadu with 18,023 cases, followed by Kerala with 15,567 cases, Maharashtra with 10,891 cases, Karnataka with 9,808 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 7,796 cases.

Of the total 92,000 fresh cases, 67.04% have been reported from these five states, with Tamil Nadu alone responsible for 19.46% of the new cases. Maximum casualties have been reported from Maharashtra where 702 people died on Tuesday, followed by Tamil Nadu with 409 deaths.

Meanwhile, India's recovery rate now stands at 94.55%. A total of 1,62,664 Covid-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 2,75,04,126 across the country.
