At least 17 people died after a building of a private company caught fire in Pune's Ghotawade Phata on June 07. Eight fire tenders were rushed to douse the massive flames. The fire was successfully doused by the fire officials. Chief Fire Officer Devendra Potphode said, “The fire broke out during plastic packing, smoke was so much that female workers could not find an escape. We have recovered 17 bodies - 15 women and 2 men. 37 people were working. Cooling and search operation is underway.” Further details are awaited.
