Recent incidents of attack against doctors by the beleaguered relatives of patients have raised a lot of concern about the safety of the healthcare workers in India. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has written to Union Home minister Amit Shah, requesting him to approve a comprehensive, uniform and effective law against healthcare violence. IMA has also asked the Centre to declare hospitals as protective zones.
